GP Dr. Jan Zomerdijk and his wife Janny Goris, a public health dietitian, travel to Kanabea PNG yearly to work as volunteers along side the local community to help improve health delivery at the Kanabea hospital and primary school.
Kanabea village is located in the highlands of the Gulf Province, one of the least developed regions of PNG. There are no roads, only bush tracks, so the team must be flown in along with their equipment and donated goods from the Tamborine Mountain Community.
Our admin team are fielding higher than normal call volumes at present due to COVID 19 vaccination and testing enquiries. Unfortunately, this has had an impact on wait times.
Our team is working hard to answer all calls and make appointments as quickly as possible. If you are wanting to book a standard appointment with your regular Dr or another GP please consider using our online booking system or phone app AMS Connect.
We appreciate your patience and understanding during these unprecedented times.
Why does the AutoMed online booking display Pfizer as ‘not available’?
The “not available” message means we have reached our stock limit for that particular vaccine.
We ask that you call the practice to check when the next available time is.
When is Pfizer available?
The Pfizer vaccination is available for bookings now for people aged 12 to 59 years old. If you are 60 years and over you can also book for Astra Zeneca.
We are given limited supplies of the Pfizer vaccine and bookings are prioritised to patients of our practice only at this stage.
Do you have a cancellation list for Pfizer vaccine?
Due to the high volume of interest in appointments for the Pfizer vaccine, it is not possible to maintain a cancellation list. We strongly encourage anyone wanting to make an appointment to call the practice.
If you are a Healthcare/Frontline worker, work with NDIS or have a chronic disease please speak to our staff regarding your situation.
