Volunteer Work
Practice support for Papua New Guinea highlands
GP Dr. Jan Zomerdijk and his wife Janny Goris, a public health dietitian, travel to Kanabea PNG yearly to work as volunteers along side the local community to help improve health delivery at the Kanabea hospital and primary school.
Kanabea village is located in the highlands of the Gulf Province, one of the least developed regions of PNG. There are no roads, only bush tracks, so the team must be flown in along with their equipment and donated goods from the Tamborine Mountain Community.
